This dairy-free hot chocolate mix is so delicious and ridiculously easy to mix up. I always hated buying hot chocolate mix from the grocery store. It is loaded with many chemicals, and preservatives, and often includes powdered milk. Blegh.
I realize there is a definite convenience factor in adding hot water to a hot cocoa mix. But when we used store-bought hot chocolate, the flavor was just not worth the calories. If you want to make a mix with powdered milk included, this one from Eating on a Dime is highly-rated.
I was not happy with storebought hot chocolate mix, so I got out my trusty recipe and we started using my homemade mix. This mix is dairy-free, which gives you the freedom to use whatever kind of milk your heart desires. Not only can you up your milk game with this mix but you can also choose a high-quality organic cocoa powder, raw cocoa powder, or gourmet even.
Original Dairy-Free Hot Chocolate Mix
My incredibly sweet oldest daughter Ellie shared this recipe originally here when she was only 7 years old. She was my little helper in the kitchen and was always by my side. Since I was blogging, she wanted to blog too. But here were are today and she is 18 years old now.
Sniff sniff.
I’m not crying.
Her writing on here never took off and I figured it was high time I update her post with some updated pictures and information.
Her original post included talk of loving me. I’m a good cook. I make popcorn and other good foods, including chili that’s not spicy.
Oh her little post was so cute and I have it! But we were due for an update so here it is…

That was so so easy right?? I get why Ellie shared it! I remember her making little baggies of this mix and giving them to friends. She was so proud of herself!
